Slow down, put the top down, or just park the car altogether and hop on a beach cruiser like the locals do.

That’s because “life shines” on Florida’s Scenic Highway 30A, a 20-mile meandering shore tucked very quietly between Destin and Panama City Beach. Speckled with artsy cobblestone villages, rare coastal dune lakes, upscale resorts, funky beach bars, world-class restaurants and 25,000 acres of protected habitats, 30A is the birthplace of New Urbanism and is also home to the most beautiful beaches in the world.

South Walton is home to so many wonderful and unique faces and places, and Scenic Highway 30A is the common thread that strands them all together, so we’re very fortunate to have volunteer groups such as “The Friends of Scenic 30-A” and “The 30A Foundation,” whose mission is it to protect and promote 30A’s official scenic status.
